I had my start as a staff appraiser with Gate City Bank in 1975. I then worked as a fee appraiser in Grand Forks from 1977 t01982 when I moved to Bismarck and started Dakota Appraisal & Consulting, LTD. (Sold the firm to Corey Kost, MAI, on 01/01/2021, & now work as a staff appraiser.) I achieved the MAI designation in 1988. The firm gradually grew to a present staff of seven appraisers working extensively in ND and surrounding states and appraise virtually all property types. Over the years, I have been involved in many appraiser roles, ND Appraiser Board for 23 years (board chair for 20 years) & now serve as the board's Review Coordinator, founding member & 2019 President of the NDAA, past board member of NorthStar Chapter of Appraisal Institute, & involved with the Association of Appraiser Regulatory Association (AARO) since its inception in 990 & served as President in 2021 & 2022. My present appraisal work is concentrated to litigation support. I enjoy traveling, exercising, skiing, snow shoeing, pontooning, & weekly Sunday dinners with our two daughters, son-in-laws, four grandchildren, & my wife of 51 years!
